HEF hosts Guru Vandana in Chicago - Lake County |
HEF Lake County, a small but mighty group celebrated Guru Vandana in a big way on May 15th. Fourteen children extended the invitation to their Gurus with ten total guests being honored at the event. The families started coming in at 10:00 to set up for the event. The plans were set in motion. We had some families arranging tables, chairs and sound system; some setting up for the delicious luncheon that awaited us at the conclusion of the event; and others helped set up the exhibition.  |

HEF hosts Guru Vandana in Irvine |

The Irvine Shakha of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) celebrated Guru Vandana (Teacher Appreciation Day) on Sunday, May 2, 2010. The event was a huge success with over a dozen teachers attending the event and the total attendee list crossing the three digit mark. This was significant given that the organizing committee had expected the total attendance to be less than sixty people! |

HEF hosts Guru Vandana in Houston |
|
On Saturday, May 1st 2010, Hindu Education Foundation (HEF) held Guru Vandana (Teachers Appreciation Day) in Houston. The event was attended by over 60 teachers from all across Greater Houston area, some of them drove for over 45 miles to reach the program. Teachers represented all grade levels Elementary, Middle, High school and University. For the first time since we started celebrating Guru Vandana, we had participation from all the Houston Chapter children and their teachers. Sevika karyakarthas from all the HEF Chapters were involved in planning and execution of the program. Guest teachers from several Houston area Hindu temples like, BAPS, VPSS, Chinamaya Mission, Arya Samaj, ISKON, Meenakshi Temple, Arsh Vidya Gurukulam participated in this event. It was a 2 hours Educational and Cultural program followed by Vegetarian dinner which was greatly appreciated by the participating teachers. |
