Teacher's Appreciation Week 2009 |

Most of us are aware of the importance of a teacher in one's life. In the order of importance, Teacher is placed next only to mother and father. So no amount of appreciation is sufficient to thank the teachers for their services. However, as means of imbibing the culture of honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives, The first full week in May is set aside as Teachers Appreciation Week and Tuesday is celebrated as National Teacher Day. Please take a moment to print the attached greeting card, sign and send to your teachers as well as your children's teachers. If you prefer you can personalize the message in the greeting card too. Hope you will take time to send in your appreciation to the teachers and principals in your schools. |

HEF hosts Guru Vandana in Houston |

On Saturday, April 12, over thirty teachers and a principal from seven school districts in the Houston area attended Guru Vandana (Teacher Appreciation), at Keshav Smriti. Organized by the Hindu Education Foundation (HEF), a project of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, the utsav allowed hardworking teachers to be honored and appreciated for their endless work by their own students. In the spirit of respect for their Gurus (Teachers), children from Houston area Balagokulams invited their teachers to the event and presented them with a token of appreciation. |

India Experience Festival at Cleveland State University |

India Experience, the festival was a month-long program organized by Department of Cultural studies, Social welfare department of Cleveland State University and co-sponsored by US based non-profit organization Hindu Education Foundation. The month-long India Fest consists of an exhibition on 'Hindu Dharmic Traditions and Culture' in the main students library, a lecture series and workshop on various aspects of Hindu traditions by eminent scholars and a 10-days long Thyagaraja music festival. |
