On Saturday, May 1st 2010, Hindu Education Foundation (HEF) held Guru Vandana (Teachers Appreciation Day) in Houston. The event was attended by over 60 teachers from all across Greater Houston area, some of them drove for over 45 miles to reach the program. Teachers represented all grade levels Elementary, Middle, High school and University.

For the first time since we started celebrating Guru Vandana, we had participation from all the Houston Chapter children and their teachers.  Sevika karyakarthas from all the HEF Chapters were involved in planning and execution of the program.

Guest teachers from several Houston area Hindu temples like, BAPS, VPSS, Chinamaya Mission, Arya Samaj, ISKON, Meenakshi Temple, Arsh Vidya Gurukulam participated in this event. It was a 2 hours Educational and Cultural program followed by Vegetarian dinner which was greatly appreciated by the participating teachers.
