HEF hosts Guru Vandana in Longmont PDF Print E-mail

We are glad to share with all of you that Longmont and Westminster shakha together celebrated the Guru Vandana program on Sunday May 8th, 2011 in Longmont. This program was focused on to appreciate the teachers' efforts to bringing knowledge era in student life. We had 12 teachers from Niwot High School, Twin Peaks Charter Academy, Altona Middle School, Eagle Crest Elementary and from Westminster School. GV2011Longmont

Program started at 4.00 PM by hoisting param pujaneeye bhagawa dwaja followed by boudhik from a kishore bala, including the introduction of HSS and importance of Guru in Indian culture. After the boudhik children presented a glimpse of Indian culture by Sanghik Geet, Vayaktik geet, shlokas, Dances, skit and a presentation about India even vote of thanks was done by children.All the teachers were listening attentively throughout the program and were amazed  to get interesting information about Indian culture. After this all teachers were invited to the stage and Guru Vandana was performed by doing aarti and putting tilak on teacher's forehead by balas. A book of Indian culture and tradition, appreciation certificate, candles and flowers were presented to each teacher by children. Each child spoke about his/her teacher. All teachers were so touched after feeling that how important and respectable place a teacher has in the Indian society. Some of the teachers got so emotional, each teacher spoke in his vocation and provided very good feedback. After the teacher facilitation, shakha ended with Prarthna and Dwajaavatharan. At the end, a delicious feast which includes Samosa, Milk Cake, Almond Barfi, different varieties of Pakodas, Juice, Ice cream was served and enjoyed by teachers, their families and karyakartas. The program ended at 6.15 PM. All teachers were so amazed about this event and were interested to know more about the India culture. One teacher said that I wish American society was respecting the teachers the same way Indians do. We also got the thank you card from teachers, in which they mentioned that they felt much honored by inviting in this wonderful event. Next day we also came to know that few teachers appreciated and explained about this events and Indian culture to all students in their classes. 

Also to mention that this event was mostly conducted by Kishore ganas, which includes setup the event, anchoring, presentation, cultural and up to certain extent serving the food. We were also expecting Kishore ganas to prepare this report, but they are busy with their finals going on in school so they couldn't do that. May be next time they will do it.
